About us
Dolphins Cheer Community Salzgitter.Lichtenberg e.V.
Welcome to the DCC
Welcome to the Dolphins Cheer Community. You have chosen a very particular team sport. We are glad you picked our club, and we wish you a season full of moments you will not forget.

So what is cheer?
Cheer is a sport built from gymnastics, acrobatics and dance together with crowd-leading. At this club, cheer is trained purely as a competitive sport.
All year round we prepare for championships held nationally and internationally. Under a fixed rulebook, teams perform required elements within a two-minute routine, which trained judges then score on difficulty and, of course, execution.
2:302:00This season, routines at CCVD championships last two minutes rather than the previous 2:30.
What we expect
Our teams train from June to May, several times a week, with regular breaks - during school holidays, for instance.
Fielding competitive teams asks a lot of every athlete: commitment and reliability. We are looking for athletes ready to work on themselves, to push past their own limits, and to put the team ahead of their own interests.
Our aim is to give every athlete the best possible room to develop individually within the club. That is why we run several levels and age divisions.
Levels & age divisions
At the start of the season every athlete is placed in the level our experienced coaches judge to be the best fit for their skills and their age division.

Basic
This level is ideal for beginners with little or no cheerleading experience. We learn dances and gymnastics elements through play and work on small stunts, easing athletes into cheer as a team sport. In the Mini and Primary divisions this level prepares athletes for Level 0.
Level 1
Primary only
This level is for experienced athletes who have already mastered the basics at Level 0. Here we drill further fundamental tumbling elements (back walkover, alternating walkover, front walkover, back handspring) and build the first higher-value stunts and pyramids.
Youth only
This level eases former Primary athletes into the Youth division and gives beginners and newcomers the chance to learn every element of cheer and perfect the basics. The focus is on correct stunt and tumbling technique: rolls, cartwheels, round-offs, walkovers, front walkovers, back handsprings.
Youth only
This level is for experienced athletes who have learned fundamental stunt and pyramid technique. We keep working on higher and newer skills. Walkovers, round-offs and back handsprings are central here and get perfected.
Junior only
For the Junior division this level is ideal for easing in former Youth athletes as well as newcomers and beginners. We work on tumbling elements plus fundamental stunts, pyramids and dance. This level prepares athletes for Level 3/4.
Level 3
Senior only
This level is for athletes who have successfully found their feet in the sport. Now we work on more advanced tumbling (back handspring, tuck) and build more advanced stunts and pyramids.
Level 4
Junior only
This level requires far advanced stunt skills and several years of cheerleading experience. Higher tumbling elements are expected (tuck); more advanced elements are welcome (layout).
Senior only
This level requires advanced stunt skills and cheerleading experience. Fundamental tumbling elements are expected; higher elements (back handspring, tuck, layout) are welcome.
Level 5
Senior only
This level requires broad experience and advanced stunts and tumbling (tuck, layout). Higher elements (full twist) are welcome. We keep working on demanding stunts, pyramids and dance.
Level 7
Senior only
This level requires very broad, long-standing experience and high expertise in stunts and tumbling (tuck, layout). Higher elements (full twist) are welcome. We keep working on difficult tumbling and on very demanding stunts, pyramids and dance.
From Level 0 upward there are defined tumbling and stunt requirements. We do not assign athletes to teams on the basis of friendships or shared lifts.

Showcase
In the second half of the year our teams build the routines for the coming championship season, which opens with the CCVD state championship in December. Before any team performs in front of a panel, we hold a large showcase each year - a dress rehearsal under competition conditions. Families and friends of all athletes are warmly invited.
Every year we try to look after our guests athletically and with something to eat. Since all our coaches and the entire board work as volunteers, we depend on help from parents, and we are always glad to see new faces on the organising team.
